Peakin' on Cedro

  WOW! Cedro is a blast. I can't wait to do a big day of riding down there with Otero and Cedro all wrapped up in one.
  I met Anthony down the road and we went and picked up Jim Beam. Then we drove down 14 to Tijeras. There we met up with a friend of Jimmy. He knows the trails well so he knew the choice routes. The trails are used a lot by moto's so some of the trails are buff and burmed so it is like being on a roller coaster you just let go and enjoy the ride. Also the trail gets pretty tech with some big rock and loose rock type stuff. All in all a good day was had by all.
  After the ride on our way out of town we stopped by The Lazy Lizard for some micros( my preferred method of refueling)and 2 jalapeno poppers. Here are some pics.

I better break this post up into 2 parts. too many good shots for one post.
I came across a website from Baltimore city where we moved from 6 months ago. It documents each murder that happens in the city. It is crazy how murders happen and the news doesn't seem to think that it matters because it wasn't a pretty girl with blond hair or someone with $$. It is called Murderland. Check it out sometime. Isn't the news supposed to report this type of stuff?

Dorothy Stewart part 2

  March 31st on this day in 1967 Jimi Hendrix burned his guitar for the first time at London's Astoria Theatre. He is sent to the hospital afterwards for burns on his hands. It sucks that Hendrix died so early. He was just hitting his stride with the Band of Gypsy's If they could of done a studio album you know it would of been sweet.Buddy MIles was killer. Billy Cox as well rocked. Enough lamenting.
  I had a tasty brew the other night. I got it just because I like everything that stone does it seems, so I tried the Smoked Porter and what do you know I liked this one too.

  The rides here just keep getting better. A few days ago I went to ride in the Burque at Cedro. It was a blast. We got some nice shots too. I will post em up soon.

Dorothy Stewart is nice!

  I didn't like her art much, But I love her trail.
  Spring is here everyone. With it comes later days and WARM temps. Ahhhhhh I must say that I like the warmer temps. All though I do like to play in the snow as well. We just didn't get much snow to speak of here this winter. The last few rides I have been on have been SSweet we have been parking at the Wilderness Gate parking and heading down the road to the Dorothy Stewart trail which ends up meeting up with the Dale Ball South trails. The trail is a great starting trail as it doesn't start with a ball buster climb right out of the gate.
  I signed up for the Santa Fe century I spoke of last post. I am now committed. It will be my first century ride. Is anyone else doing this ride? I think I better dust off the Canondale since I haven't ridden it since we got here.
  A friend(Jay) that I ride bikes with here in Santa Fe is selling these Garmin GPS units that are INSANE they do everything. If you are looking for a GPS unit he sells them for cheaper than anywhere you can find on the internet. I have a link to the Garmin on my sidebar click on it and check it out. I am saving my duckets as we speak. I want one by the time I do the Santa Fe century. I love that you can use the motion based mapping software and watch a dot roll through the loop you have done at the pace you did it.   Here are some pics from a ride or 2 from Dorothy Stewart to Atalaya than down to the Arroyo.

SUPA STUPA

   Jay and I went on a nice ride on trails around town the other day and decided to go check out this Stupa that I had heard about up in the hills above Santa Fe. The Stupa represents the Buddha's body, his speech and his mind, but most especially his mind and every part shows the path to Enlightenment. I really thought this place was beautiful and had a good vibe . I will go back I am sure. It is amazing that someone would build this place it must of taken quite a bit of money. Amazing how much Money is in this town. It felt great to visit this nice place. I feel that the SingleSpeed was welcomed here. Here are a few pics from the Stupa.

Well it finally snowed here the other day. It was quite nice.

  "Dharma" means "protection". By practising Buddha's teachings we protect ourself from suffering and problems. All the problems we experience during daily life originate in ignorance, and the method for eliminating ignorance is to practise Dharma. I am trying to practice that more.
  Anthony was talking about doing the Santa Fe Century I am gonna do it as well. It will be my First century. I am also eyeing up this local MTB race. Should be good fun.

La Glorieta Pass

Wow! I love Glorieta.I never knew that there was a Civil War battle there. I always thought the Civil War was fought in the East.
  Anthony and I went on a great ride up there the other day. We parked in the Baptist center and biked up to ghost town and beyond to Thompson Peak. Then we descended down beautiful single track to the Baptist center. A delightful romp in the woods! Here are some pics.

This is where the ghost town trail meets up with the fireroad 63A that we have climbed up before.

We get to the top of Glorieta Baldy and I figure we are done the climbing. Anthony on the other hand decides we should head over to Thompson Peak. Sounded good to me. We didn't think it would drop down as far as it did before we had to ascend back up to the peak. It was a sweet section of trail though. Could use some cleaning though.

Then it was back to Glorieta Baldy at the Fire Lookout.

From here it is mostly real fun downhill run for 10 miles. It starts with these tight switchbacks on real loose rocky stuff.



Then it becomes more smooth type of trail for a while. Real fast





After riding in the pines like that it gets real fun with trail rolling through and over big boulders and rock stuff.It is soooo fun it feels like you are really out in the wilderness. When we come home we always pass by this closed gas station that has old prices listed on the sign. Makes you wish for those days.

Man speaking of gas and cars and whatnot. I have never seen as many Subaru's I have seen here in Santa Fe. I bet per capita there are more here then anywhere else.
